Cost of sandblasting
I'm curious what it usually costs to have sandblasting done. I was just quoted $75.00 per wheel by a local sandblasting company. Sounds outrageously expensive. Is this average?
I'm in the metro-new york area. Anyone have any recommendations as to a cheaper local place?
I have a blasting cabinet and usually do small parts myself but was hoping to avoid spending the time with my small compressor.

Ouch!! that sounds expensive!
When I was doing my body off I had tons of stuff to blast and I knew my little 10gal blaster with 5hp compressor just wasn't going to cut it so I looked in the yellow pages under Sandblasting and found a Do it yourself yard charging $95. per hr.
So I loaded up the truck and did my frame, 4 wheels, all my suspension pieces, bumper brackets, rear end and other misc parts and it came to about $250.
The great thing about it was with a 250hp compressor and huge sandhopper you just keep blasting until your finished or your arms fall off. they provided the air supplied helmet gloves etc. and there is no mess to clean up at home

sounds high priced to me,
However be careful what, and to whom you take your stuff to.
Different medias and pressures can be very aggressive and destroy, some parts.
