Default Battery Question

In my haste to remove my old battery I neglected to determine which connection is the positive and which is the negative pole. Is the pole nearest the driver's side door the positive pole? Thanks for all your help.

look under car and see where the negative cable grounds to frame, should be directly under the battery compartment. Without having a Vette handy, I would say outboard is negative. Positive is inner and in line with the tunnel, at least on a 75 it is. Just check the frame for the negative cable end...................B

On my '72, the positive is closest to the door.
