luggage rack

have an 81 vette. on the back trunk area there are two rubber grommets. one on each side. could this have been for a luggage rack????????? dont see any racks listed for an 81. namvet

Trying to go from memory on the way the back looks on the 81 vette but can bet the rubber grommets were not for a luggage rack that I know of, but from the way it sounds someone attempted to install some kind of mount back there.
I did see a black vette once on ebay I think and it had some kind of snow ski mount with skis on it. Didnt get a good look at the mount.
