Default Battery Help

The dual electric cooling fans I installed keep draining the battery after the car is shut down. Would an OPTIMA RED OR YELLOW TOP battery solve the problem? The car is a 72 BB with no other electronics

I do not think that a New Battery will not solve your problem....before the cooling fan installation was there any current draw on the battery...did it go dead? if not...Sounds to me like it may be the way the cooling fans are wired.

Thanks for your response. I spoke with a tech person from flex-a-lite and he only recommended a power source from the starter. The only current draw is from the clock and seems to be normal. The fans have a 30 amp in line fuse so they do draw significant current. I am off to Sears to buy a Platinum AGM battery anyway. Thanks for your help.

there are normally open slots on your fuse block. i would use one that only has power with car on. that way you know for sure that you dont have a draw while the car is off. other than that, how old was the battery?

You need a relay so it won't run after the car is shut off.
