power steering on 78
I have just got a 78 that was in a barn for 5 years and am trying to git it ready for some good road trips but my steering just dosent feel right. Just after I got it the power steering control valve started leaking bad, but still steered smooth and easy. I replaced the valve with a new one and now the steering feels stif and has some side to side slop in the steering wheel. Is this normal on this type of car or do I have more things wrong with the system. Would replacing the power steering pump help with the stif steering. I also have a clicking noise coming from the rear of the car, sound like a u-joint but have had 2 shops look at it and they say they are ok and have no idea what the noise is. Wanted to go the Eureka springs corvette rally but was afraid to drive the car that far until I have a few more bugs worked out of it.
