Default 1968 'unique items only' list?

Hello:
I just bought a great 68 convertible that I am going to do a full frame off resto; (I will post pictures soon, and over the next year or so);
I read somewhere on here that someone compiled a list of items were unique to a 1968 only - does anyone have that?
Thanks in advance.

oh yeah............frame (early 68's), valve covers (l-79), oil fill cap , same as 67 i think, intake manifold (has oil fill tube) door sill plates (rumor is they were wider on early 68's), oh yea, don't forget about the courtesy interior lights on the coupes.......

Having said that, when was your car built? 68 parts can vary depending on when it was built...........that's a whole other mess. Welcome to the my hell.

it's a chrome ball vs the black chrome on 69's and up.........also, i have found that original 68 shifter ***** were actually a very light metal, not that real heavy one you see all the time on Ebay. Maybe a 2 part pieced together plastic (?) that had a brass inner portion that had the threads, and you can actually see it was 2 parts seamed together.....a friend of mine has a couple NOS ones...........anyone else ever see that?

avalonjohn,

Sorry, I only listed the antenna since it was the same as 67, and I missed the gas door emblem.

There were tons of early and late parts too. . . Probably to many to list.

Hard car to restore for sure.

Yup, your right. The problem is these parts are one year only and it would not pay to invest in the tooling to make most of these items.

I've done one and that was enough! I spent way to many hours searching for parts to make this car right! We even gave in on some items and used (the pillar post interior moldings) the replacement parts.

Hey, I just thought of another. . . Header moldings or upper windshield end moldings.

Thanks! Part of the allure of this car is the 'uniqueness' that is special to this year....
I'm finishing up a 30 x 40 pole barn; once it's done I can get this, and my other cars in there and post some progress photos.

At least there are no Stingray emblems to buy.
