So I pull into a convenience store on Saturday morning ... take a few steps out of the car .... and hear "Excuse me sir." I look up to see a 19 or 20 year old guy pulling away from the pumps. He continues, "That is one bad a** car!" I have to admit it put a smile on my face. The C3 just gets a lot of attention for a car that isn't that expensive. As I like to say, 'a lot of bang for the buck.'
My 15 year old son now talks about when he 'gets his C3'. He was sitting in the car at the time and his smile was bigger than mine.
I have to agree. My 69 started getting thumbs up about a block from the place where I bought it about 2 years ago and it has never stopped. The people can be any age, ethnicity, gender. It usually starts with a look over at the car and then grin and a thumbs up.
My girlfriend has been driving my tired old SA and everyday she comes home with another story of someone complimenting the car.Hey baby nice curves,Hey baby when you gonna take your top off? Sure puts a smile on her face.I guess I've been driving vettes too long, all I ever get it is a finger gesture.
Was out yesterday and 4 kids in the neighbor hood stopped dead in their tracks to watch me go by. It's great to see young kids appreciate these "old" cars so much.

Yep, it is nice to see the youngins appreciate a classic. In fact my 76 has become my 16 year olds daily driver. I know it sounds crazy, but its only a mile and a half to school and he is a responsible kid (at least when I can hear or see the Vette....)
His friends all love the car. Nice another generation gets it beauty.

My son wants a C3 for his driver also. I haven't checked but I can only imagine what the insurance rates will be. And yes, all of his friends also love the C3!
I stopped at local beer store yesterday. The manager and her grown son had to go into the parking lot for a look. This is the land of pickups, old vets are not common, you get lots of lookers.

That IS pretty cool.An old vette really does stop kids dead in their tracks.
Yup, I agree...I was at Starbucks getting a coffee (I've got a '77, fully done with custom two tone leather) and three young kids asked if they could take some pictures with their cell phone because it was so Kool...My custom plate is "Slick 77"
Nice..

I got a guy in a GIANT 4X4 truck (the vette could probably have fit under it) he asked if I wanted to race for pinks, I laughed and said no politely, he then asked me to rev it as the light turned green so I just gunned it and made my left hand turn VERY quickly for him
I always get alot of looks and compliments about my 79 pretty much everywhere I go, even over the really bad parts of town. But my 98 is like im invisible.
Thanks for sharing. It's really cool hearing these stories. It's like if one C3 gets a compliment all of us kind of share in it because we have this common connection. Anyone else care to share?
Last month I was driving my 72, and a little kid waiting for the bus got of the bench, waved and made a "put the pedal to the metal" gesture cause he wanted to hear the engine. The fella was 11 years old at most. That was cool!
Last week, I stopped at a gas station. A mom and dad were filling up their car, a little guy got out of the vehicle with his camera taking pics of my car
And of course, when driving in the city I sometimes get horn honks and waves from enthousiastic people ...
Over here in Europe it is even a rarer car, but heck, we Belgians are way more shy than american people, so getting this great reactions on the car feels really good ...
How about when your simply working on the car in the driveway and for hours there will be a symphony of horns and the occasional passer kicking it into reverse pulling in and stopping to talk to you?
A coupe of weeks ago I had adjusted my carb and took it around the block for a test. I got out to the light to turn onto the main road and hammered it a little just to test. As the cars from the light caught up to me I heard an angry HONK HONK and I looked over expecting a grouchy old man or something and it was three kids in a SUV smiling and thumbs-up.
I have seen young guys, 12 or so in the neighborhood swiveling their heads to see me go by as well. Hope that's the start of something.
Found the same thing here but with one problem, when other drivers look ,hook and wave they nearly hit me i have had to swerve many times not to get hit, but that's half the fun i guess
