We need some big block owners on here. Thats a common big block fan and its on correctly. The only problem is the clutch is going bad and trying to lock up going by PKs description.
The fan I remember because when I see one it scares me.Imagine putting your hand on the fan shroud as the engine is running.
Yes, I have seen these fans before on big blocks, and it scares me a little. When I was having the heat problem, the fan was making A LOT of noise, like a jet gunning it down the runway. I solved the heat problem and the fan went to making a whooshing sound like you would expect at operating temperature. Then, in the last week or so, it started getting loud again. I am thinking that basically everything that fan clutch had to give, she gave when I was having the heat problem. If past experience is any predictor of future performance, no doubt will remain on that clutch within a few hundred miles. I am thinking of changing it soon though, I don't want too much vibration to whack out my water pump. Although, some poeple say you should always change those two together since they essentially share a shaft.
No Air Conditioning...thats the key his car has AC
Are you saying that with a/c the fan blades can be twisted flat? That will cut down air flow any way you look at it. It's physics. The sharper the angle of the blade (up to a point) the more air flow it will produce. As I said earlier, surely he knows someone with a big block with air that will let him look under the hood. That's what I'd do if it was my car and I was questioning the air flow. I'm out of it from here on out, I gave my opinion, restating it won't convince anyone who doesn't agree.

Were not disagreeing with what your saying about the air flow.Your correct however you are looking at 1 picture and its an optical illusion of sorts.Go back and look again, the blade that appears bent the opposite way is not.Its a little weird and I had to look at it several times to see it.
The clutch can be adjusted to when you want it to engage. Do a little searching to find the how-to. I've seen it here before. This has been a low priority thing on my list of to-do's. Cold mornings in October make for a noisy fan, I've been compensating so far by keeping the secondaries open to cover up the noise of the fan.
With everyone guessing this and other guys doing photoshop... wouldn't it be easier for PKguitar to just take a half decent photo of his blades?

I am fine with the fan. I will do a search and see if I can figure out how to adjust the clutch.
A better pic would be great but for some if you would just look at all the fan blades and compare them.Confirm they are all the same. Most of all confirm there are none that are curved backwards as the one in your first pic appears to be.

Just got back from the garage. Took two pics, wife will have to send them to me as this computer is not presently enabled to get the pics out of the camera. Will do that later tonight or tomorrow.
Consider it confirmed: The fan has 7 blades. All 7 are visually identical and facing the same way. Although, I took one pic from each side that will show that my fan housing alignment leaves something to be desired, the blades undoubtedly face in the proper direction to pull air over the radiator.
Upon closer inspection of the clutch, it looks like it could be brand new. Any chance these things "break-in" for a few hundred miles before they start behaving more consistently?
On my old car, my clutch went. I bought a new one and put it on, and within a few hundred miles it seized. I brought it back and the store exchanged it with no problem. These things always seemed to be one of these "good one or bad one" things to me. You get a good one, they seem to last darn near forever. Get a bad one, and it won't last for crap. Sounds like some folks in another thread are having the same experience.

Reason: fix typo
Alright, here goes. One of the pictures just plain sucked. But I think this one will clear up a lot of questions. Let me know if it doesn't.
Yes that looks a lot better.I can see how 65GGvert was sure the one blade was backwards. Those extended tips make it look that way.You can also see in this pic how those tips come outside the shroud....I had those tips clip me once on the palm of my L hand and remove a small hunk of flesh.ouch
