Starter motor questions....
So my starter motor problems continue. I have now been through the whole system. Replaced some wires and took out a problematic cutout switch at the battery, but didn't find anything I would call "the smoking gun", and the car failed to start today. So, I ordered a new starter motor from the local auto parts store that is supposed to be in tomorrow. However, the guy didn't seem to be able to figure out what the right part number was. What is the right GM part number for the starter for 1970 with 454 and manual trans? Where is it located on the motor?
Also, are these things date coded? If so, where is the date stamp? If the one I took out this afternoon is date correct, I will try to get it re-conditioned rather than turning it in for the $10.00 core deposit.
