Default Is this the right Temp switch?

Background: My temperature guage does not work in my 1976 Vette. It is the original L48 350 Engine.

I bought this part from the local parts dealer. At first the guy behind the counter said my car does not have a temperature guage???? But then located this part and said it was the right one.

The box says Duralast TU5. Is this the right part and where does it go?

That's certainly a temp sender for your car. If he looked it up by year and gave you that part then that's probably it. You can call around for a second opinion if you like.

Next time though, order one from Lectric Limited, and you'll for sure get a proper sender.

it's a temp switch but will it work with your guage is the better question. Problem is where the resistance is different with the new and old temp sender. Try it out... it may work. Mine for the 1972 that I got from Autozone did not work at all. Got the correct one from Lectric Limited and it worked perfectly.
