Reason: wrong year
There shouldn't be anything you can 'reset'. Exactly how do you do that?
Usually those kinds of problems are because the starter solonoid got too hot or because the power and ground connections are not good or solid and the heat will degrade the connections until it cools off.
Get in the battery compartment, and remove and clean and check the battery connections. Then get under the car. Make sure the ground cable has a solid and clean connection to the frame, and check the power wire from the battery to the starter lug.
If anything looks bad, fix it.
Is the starting problem related at all to the starter solonoid on the starter itself?
Edit: Thanks for the heads up Steve.

Um, actually, 1974 is the one year where there is a "reset" under the hood. It's the one year with a seat belt interlock system. Most of these have been bypassed by now. The orange box with the reset button is located on the passenger side of the firewall. It was designed as a bypass so mechanics working on the cars (all '74 makes and models) wouldn't have to keep getting back in the car and fastening the seat belt to crank the engine over.
Someone else will chime in, but I think simply removing the driver's seat and unplugging the connector will bypass the switch. Unfortunately, it sounds like there is a further problem in the interlock system if the only way the original poster can crank the car is by pushing the bypass button. Unless they haven't tried fastening the seat belt.....
Hmm...'74 interlock. That's good to know. I wonder if that's why a '74 I worked on has an auxiliary starting system designed by Bubba and perfected by DB.
Sounds like heat soak to me and not a seatbelt interlock reset problem. The half hour down time you mention isn't the interlock; it's the starter cooling down enough to crank again. A stronger spring in the solenoid will probably solve your problem.
'74s have weight sensors in the seats. If 40 or more pounds is detected on the seat bottom, the interlock kicks in and makes you fasten the seat belts.

Just for information, here is the weight sensor...
...and the re-set button.
My seatbelt interlock system is disabled. However, when functioning the re-set is instantaneous. I believe the OP is experiencing starter heat soak as noted above: the 30-minute wait.

With respect, and I'm old school, if you could speak in non-text messaging or plain English we might be able to help you. I really can't understand what the problem is??
Thank you "" we were able to remove the relay and bypass the seat belt system start relay with a jumper wire and now it starts every time . thank so much for the information on the 1974 seat belt system had no clue what that relay did . back on the road again .THANKS not my xes
