Default speedometer interchange?

Hey guys,

I have a '77 with a frozen speedo. What years are also the same if I can find a replacement? Sending mine in to be refurbished would be great, but $200.00 is a little steep for my taste and this isn't a show car. I just need to know how fast I'm going... without some crazy neon aftermarket speedo sticking out of the dash.

Thanks!
Keegan

It sounds like you are not worried about orginality, so I would say that 68-77 will work. The dash changed in 78.

They will work but 68-71 will look funny with the green numerals. I'd stick with 72 on.

If you want the KPH stuff on there you need '75-77. The earlier ones look different and won't match the Tach.

I hated the looks of the KPH scale on my '76s speedo. It was rusted internally and needed replaced or rebuilt anyway.

I bought a freshly rebuilt speedo that was supposed to go back into a frame-off '74.

No KPH, numbers match well and it bolted (well, screwed) right in with no fabrication or mods.

I don't like the way they look either, but they do light up better at night than the green face.

Honestly, really I don't notice the difference.

Since reinstalling the interior with the guages and plastic cleaned up, the only problem I'm having is the heater control being so dark I can just make out where the wheels are set. Bulb's in correctly. Maybe it needs different reflective paint inside......dunno.
