Could you order a 70 Convertible with the Hard top only? The Vert I bought a few months ago was fairly original (aside from a few hoses, an alernator, new gas tank,.... the normal stuff). It has no brackets whatsoever for the soft top. I had assumed that a past owner had removed the top and the brackets because of damage, or when they repainted it and never replaced it because it was rusty or whatever. I saw a page on the internet saying that vettes could be ordered soft top, hard top, or both. Is that true? did many people (to your knowledge) get the hard top only? I am trying to get it back to restored original as possible, and if mine came hardtop only, I may decide to leave it that way. I have no tank sticker or build sheet, but am curious if they were offered hard top only. Thanks.
By brackets i guess I meant the bows and such. I have no frame or anything on the car for the soft top. And it really looks like there is a chance that there never was anything there because the points that the frame would bolt to has no wear or scratches on it as if it never was used.

Yes. You could specify folding top delete and you got a credit for it on the invoice.
There are no brackets of any type attached to the car for the folding top. Everything associated with the folding top is part of the top assembly. Which brackets do you feel have been removed or are missing?
Purchase the '70 assembly instruction manual (AIM) and take a look at the factory installation.
Can't help with verifying whether your car was folding top delete. You would need original documentation for that.

most the older cars you could have it deleted...........
i dont know about currently ? i'll find out, now i'm curious about it.
The entire soft top can be unbolted from the body with 4 bolts. Not only does the AIM tell how to do it, but its actually in the owner's manual as well.
