I was just looking through the C-3 forum and I get a phone call from some guy in Oklahoma. His boss has a '77 Corvette for sale. It has a 327 in it, with I'm guessing a Th350. Body is decent, interior needs a little less work than mine. He want's $5,000 for it. I haven't ever considered being a multiple Corvette owner, But .....maybe. I'm going to be in his neck of the woods in a few weeks for Thanksgiving. I'll swing by and look at up close then. I wish I could get a $900 deal like 72and86 did, but if it's nice, I may just do it. (Obviously I'll try to talk him down) I'm not jumping into anything, I just thought that it was interesting that a perfect stranger got my number from a friend of a friend of a friend.
.....does this mean I'm getting to be well known as a car guy? That only took 30 years.
My friend bought a 75 with new paint, hookers, a 327/4 speed for 5 grand on April 14 last year. The owner had a tax bill to pay. The car needed a new tranny, so he dropped one in, sold it for $11k. They are out there. It is worth checking out.
Yeah, obviously not stock. But hey, I'm not an NCRS kinda guy anyway. It's only a little ways from where I'm going, so it's at least worth a trip to see what it's all about. You can hide stuff in pictures, but it's a little harder in person. I'll let everyone know what I find. Even if I don't buy it, maybe someone on here would like to have it.
Owning a Corvette is a great feeling. I own two: a 1978 Silver Anniversary Edition (only 15k made) and a 1998 Black Coupe. Therefore, I would say "go get the car."
