Default 1968 hood release cable snapped

I "ve been trying to get the hood open on my 68 for a couple days, without any luck. I've removed the wiper door and the cowl but that didn't get me very far. Any one have any info or suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated.

Does your car have A/C? You can remove the triangular splash shields on either side under the firewall, and reach up and through and try to manually release the latch. Is the cross cable broken or just the cabin cable?

thanks for the help with the hood cable question. I ended up getting it opened about 10 minutes after I posted. I reached the latch through the drivers side fender grill with a bar. it was easy to open as soon as I located the release.
thanks again. im sure I'll have lots more questions in the near future. this is my first vette and its gonna need some work!
