The 68 came with a telescoping column but will not be going back in as it goes back together. An Ididit tilt column will be replacing it.
My question is would it be worthwhile to hold onto the telescoper or put it up for sale in the parts section? It's functional and complete and not collapsed but will need to be taken apart, cleaned and painted and have any worn components replaced. Is it a rare/valuable piece because it's 68 only?
I'd keep it. One year only, and only apx. 23% of the units were installed in '68.
Will likely help you command a better price when/if you sell your Vette in the future.

All Vettes get sold eventually for one reason or another and if you have the original parts it will definitely enhance the value when the car is sold.
I would keep it and restore it when you have the time and money. you can only sale something once and realize you should have not done it. it will add value to the car if you keep it. personally from a person who is 6' 4" i would suffer every time I drove the car to know I have something special.
