Default passenger headlight help

help wanted..i have a 70 vette. changed the vacuum hoses quite a while back so they are fine. last night the passenger side light would only come up a half an inch unless i helped it . went down just fine when i turned lights off. the drivers light works fine. i ASSUME the problem is with the passenger side light or between the passenger side light and the driver side light. i can't find my headlight troubleshooting book. can someone give me a methodical way to diagnose this problem before i just start replacing parts. limited experience so you can't be too basic. thanks for the help..matt

You will need a hand held vacuum pump to make it easy. With the engine off, disconnect the hose from the rod end of the right actuator and apply vacuum with your pump or even your mouth to see if it raises the light assembly or just leaks the vacuum out. If it leaks out it is probably the rod seal. It could also be a problem with the relay valve. Perhaps someone will chime in with a troubleshooting diagrahm.

I got some "T" connectors and some tubing and tried running both lights from a single vacuum relay. This help isolate the problem, and work so well I kept it that way. One less piece of rubber tubing running to the front of the car!

Check the vacuum relay. The relays send vacuum to the headlight actuators.
