I posted this a while back, but the responses just didn't seem right. Looks like the purple wire with the female boot goes to the corresponding male boot on the lower rh side. Also, do I have the black ground wire routed right and does it matter how the motor itself is indexed? Ugh, anyone have a pic of thiers?
I don't know about the proper indexing but I do know there is an air tube from the motor housing to the air box, and that can only go on one way so that would tell you how to index the casing.
I'll see if I have a pic. As far as the tube is concerned the heater blower motor does not have this tube but the AC blower motor does have one going to the evaperator housing to help keep the motor cool. Thats a quote from the ncrs judging manual.
Ok, here is the only picture I have worth looking at. Sorry but I have put the rebuild pictures somewhere else and cant find them. This is the picture when I took it out of my 70 coupe.
Hope this will help you. Cant tell you if your car has AC or not and if it does like DB said the tube will only allow you to hook up one way and the indexing wont matter.Take a look at the 2 holes at the bottom of the pictures. The hole on the left has what looks like a blackish square around it. If I remember right that is the spot where the ground tab went on this motor. The condensor was about 12 oclock and the tube is about 6 oclock and the ground tab is around 2 oclock. If all the hole for the motor housing plate line up with the heater box holes then I would say go with that.
