Default Fuel problem

Well, heres the basics. 82 stock 350 Crossfire.

Yesterday I was out driving around and was heading back to the house. Ended up behind a few at a light and it started to quit. Pumping the throttle, I got it inot parking lot just down the street from the house.

Got it started long enough to continuously pump the throttle to get it back to the house without quiting. if I let it idle-it wouldn't. Left it until this monring and will start on the basics. Got new air filters and tried starting. It will start up and run for maybe 5 seconds and quit.

So next is the fuel filter and O2 sensor. Could be a fuel pump but hoping to avoid that. I''m going to get the basics out of the way before I get serious. Any ideas? Thanks

Well here is where I''m at. I changed the fuel filter-nothing but at least I have a new filter so no big deal. Now here is where i caught on to something. Tried starting it and the sme thing, start it up and would run and sound good for about 3-5 seconds nd stop. I did this ten times.

Now I don''t know what possesed me to do what I did next but just as a process of elimination. I took the fuel cap off and stuck a screw driver in it to hold the metal flap open. Started it up and stayed running. Was running very rough but running assuming the engine was drawing the fuel instead of by pressure. So from this "barnyard" side of it, Sounds like i need a fuel pump.

What do you all think?
