I need to see what the "factory" setup is for attaching the rear carpet in the back of a 78 corvette (I assume 78 to 82 is the same) to the rear door jambs? I f I could get some pics looking in towards the striker that would help.
I had some rubber rough textured strips that ran along the edge of the fiber glass and I think glue was applied to those and the carpet then rolled over? Not sure? Anyway those rubber strips got lost during paint and I have not been able to find anywhere to order replacements or what should go there. I might not be using the right term in my searches.
If memory serves, rear carpet doesn't attach to the door jambs; just tucks in behind them. The assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows the factory installation. AIM will also show and identify your rubber strips. If any glue was used, there will probably be a note about it.

I will check the aim., would still like to see some pics if someone has them.
Checked the aim and it shows something called a windlace? It appears to be attached to the rear carpet? Mine was not? I also cannot find anything like it from the suppliers. So me advice or pics sure would help.
the windlace should be attached to the carpet and it slides over the edge of the door frame. I would send pics but my camera came up missing and I am waiting on a new one to arrive, but I will see if I can find some pics. I saved the windlace off my old carpet if yours doesnt have it.
There is a velour cloth that covers the rubber windlace and it is all attached to the carpet. I had to reglue the velour to get it to stick correctly with some 3M adhesive. Let me know if you need better pics and I will snap some tomorrow. I just finished the carpet a couple of weeks ago.

That's late late 79-82. Earlier used the strip along the jamb.
When I replaced the rear carpet in my first 78 years ago it came attached to the carpet. I used ACC carpet.
edit...now that I'm awake I realized that it's just 78-early79s(77s??) that use this carpet strip along the door jamb! Earlier ones tucked like Easy Mike stated.

I also had to use some adhesive under the velour strip to keep it in place and smooth.

That is exactl what I was talking about! I had the rubber ones on my door but they got misplaced while at Littlejakes shop. I plan on replacing the carpet one day (Soon I hope). Let me know what you would want for your old ones.
Also, this windlace is the exact same stuff they use on boats to trim out access doors and raw fiberglass edges. So if you have a boat dealer anywhere near you can probably pick some up there. I will also send you my old ones in the meanwhile. Just need to let me know asap as I am only in town for a few days.
Ya know Mike, you're more correct than me!
Pretty sure it's only the 78 and early 79s that use the carpet strip on the jamb!
My buddy's 76 had a painted strip that attached to the edge that this carpet strip attaches to.
