Lastly, I have went through my picture archives on my computer and it looks like every 78-82 Corvette alternator bracket is adjusted all the way out at the top.
I purchased what was supposed to be the "correct" length belt....any tips or special belts that others used to overcome this? I just want to be about an inch away from the end....that way I still have some adjust ment room.
Depending on the manufacture you might have to go one number shorter and then sorta force the belt on by rotating the alt fan blade with your fingers.
If you have tall valve covers your stuck with the adjustment at the end with the stock setup.
I am running the bracket you showed. One thing to note if you are going to be using tall valve covers, you will need to get either the big block version or buy a longer adjuster rod. You will not have any problems with the power steering pump. I really like the bracket; it’s much easier to adjust the alternator.
Thanks guys, I'm going back to short valve covers, I liked the way the bracket looks and seems like you have more room to adjust belt tension. I may put that on my christmas wish list since it doesn't interfere with the PS pump.

My upper stock bracket is no where near the end and I'm running the "big CS144 alternator. I can get the belt part number for you if you need it. This is a 1980 Corvette.
Why not keep your stock mounting bracket and simply convert from the stock sdjusting arm to the same internally threaded adjusting rod shown in the kit picture ( available from Summit/Jegs and Street & Performance). The only other thing needed is to change your alternator mounting ears fron the current 12 and 6 o'clock to a 10 and 6 o'clock position. You can get an adaptor from Street & Performance to easily do this if you're running the original SI type alternator, or simply pick up a properly oriented one if you are running a CS (I'm using a CS130D from a 97 Cavalier).
I have an adapter available (or an entire new 100 amp 12 SI anternator with bracket) available. PM me if interested.

Hi Theiskell,
PMI, but is the bolt pattern on the sbc head the same as the bb head?
Or do you know what length rod is needed with this setup for tall valve covers?
To determine what lenght adjustment rod you will need it is best to install your altenator, place it where you want it to be with the belt tight, and measure from the adjustment hole on the alternator to the bolt on the backet where you will attach the other end. Order a rod that will fit that lenght. Summit and Jegs both have adjusment rods with various lenghts.

That's what I fugured. I was just hoping to get it all ordered at one time and same on shipping.

Well you are in luck I keep all the part numbers of things I order. On the big block verses small block I’m not sure. I have been told they are the same, but I can’t confirm it. I ordered the small block version and ordered the longer bar then someone told me I should have just ordered the big block version because it had the longer bar. Here are the part numbers I ordered
Bracket from summit SME-2001
Adjuster rod from summit RA5-500
