Default Does anyone recognize this '72 Big Block?

I am wondering if anyone on this forum knows about this car. It was sold a little over a year ago in Washington state. The guy that bought it passed away recently, and I just bought it from his daughter.

The car has not changed any since her father bought it.

It has a 4 speed, hooker side pipes, the regular pipes with header collecters still on it, and a GM ZZ454 engine. An original LS5 hood came with the car. The rocker moldings are missing from it.

It looks to originally have been maybe white with saddle interior.

It was not a big block car from the factory, based on the serial number (5th letter is a "K"). I have not seen the car in person, jsut pictures of it.

I am in the process of haveing the car transported to Alabama, where it will spend it's remaining life pampered in my garage, driven sparingly on the street, and thrashed at the drag strip.

If you were the previous owner, please contact me.

There is a 1" thick manilla file that comes with the car, that should tell me more about it.

Well it only took 1.5 hours but I have to say it. Change that glass fuel filter.

on the inside of the drivers door pillar will be the metal trim tag, next to the word paint should be the number 972 if it was originally painted Classic White. next to the word Trim should be the number 417 if it came with saddle/vinyl interior or 421 if it was equipped with Saddle/leather. best of luck in finding more information on this particular car, hopefully someone will chime in.

Here is a close-up. Doesn't it just make you cringe?

We ran the clear glass filter for many seasons at the track, before we went to a dual Fram screw-in filter arrangement, similar to the oil filters. Our tractors had glass bowls on them for decades. I am not afraid of a glass fuel filter, but that one is not is a good place. I prefer the metal canister filters myself, like on the 82. The 73 has one of those high temp plastic ones - I hate those as well. Before I put this car back on the road, I will be changing a few things like this and the location of the MSD box. It is right where the A/C compressor should be, so it has to move to the interior of the car.

I can't wait to get the car. It looks like it will almost be Christmas before it can be delivered. There are a lot of sleepless nights ahead of me.

Congrats! Looks like you got a good Vette to start with. I know how you feel re: the wait. You'll have it before you know it. Looks like it's got some B@lls! Remember, SAFETY first! Check the whole car very carefully.
Good luck with it!

Yeah, this bably won't be going to the track until I have personally checked and or replaced the suspension, brakes and brake fluid, rear diff fluid, transmission fluid, engine fluids, and steering system. I will probably put a wrench on every bolt on the car.

Working on race teams has taught me much about being a stickler for details.

Safety First.
