Is there a way to tell from the VIN when my 71 Coupe was built? Yes, I know it was built in 1971 but i want to know what month.
The block pad next to the water pump is blank.
The trim tag will tell you when the car was built (driver door alcove). Top line of the tag will be a letter/number(s). What are they??
As for the pad, that would only tell you when the engine was built, and if it's blank, no way to tell ... although the casting date will help determine if it is a replacement block. What is the casting date??

Yes, but you have to do a little math. Best indicator is the time/build code in the upper right corner of the trim tag. K07 on this one.
Your car was probably not completed on the date on the tag since the date indicates only the day when the car passed the station on the assembly line where the tags were attached. She probably needed another day, possibly a day and a half, to have been finished.
Check the engine pad again. You may have to clean off some road gook to see it well. Should be two numbers stamped on the pad.
S701915 is my sequence #. What would that make my 69? Titled as a 69 anyway.
All '69s had the 7 as the car line series code. Next five characters are the actual consecutive unit number. Your car was the 1915th '69 built. Late August or early September '68. What's the code on the trim tag? My guess is A or B.

That is a problem, it was removed when the car was painted and never returned to the car.

Go here and enter 1968. Count number of working days in September and exclude holidays (Labor Day). Allow at least two Saturdays for the line running. Exclude Sundays. Corvette Black Book lists #3041 as the last '69 assembled in September. Divide number of working days into 3041 for average daily production. Start at the end of September and subtract average daily production for each working day of the month until you get the range for #1915.
If you run out of working days for September, back up to August.
