Default Heater core removal

I have a '70 with AC and I am replacing the heater core. I've read all of the threads and I'm making fair progress (I keep running out of beer, though).

I've disconnected the heater hoses and undone the four bolts that hold the heater box in place - three inside, one from the engine side. I loosened the seal but can't seem to get the box to come more than a 1/4 inch away form the fire wall.

Am I missing something?

When I took the A/C box out of my '77 I seem to remember more than one engine side bolt. In fact I recall one was a stud but that could have changed between '70 and '77.

i just took mine out
72bb
i had to lift up and then pull out on the top to get the lines from the core to clear the hole in the firewall.

I believe, in addition to the outside bolts, there is a bolt that needs to be removed from the inside of the car. On my 69 there was one, if looking at the firewall, it was the lowest one on the right side, it was in the lower right corner next to the motor. Put your hand down there and see if you feel the lag point. GOOD LUCK

I think you've got them: three internal and one firewall. Just lift up for the heater core snouts to clear and then out.

Thanks for the help, I finally got back to it tonight and got it out. Lifting and rolling was the key.
