KT, have you got your wheels and tires mounted on the car yet.
I was checking only because I'm just about ready to order mine
and would like to see them on a vett first.

Do you have any photos? Thanks in advance.

Riggs.

You really need to check the tire manufacturer's specs. Each tire is a little different in tread width, overall diameter, etc.

a 285/40/18 is almost exactly 27" tall and over and inch wider in the tread than a 255/45/18. Unfortunately, it is also about 1.5" wider in the mid section. This is the part that rubs on the frame, etc.

I would personally go with 275/40/18 on the rear and 245/40/18 on the front. This would net a 1" smaller diameter tire, but only affect the speedometer very little. It would give you a little more fender clearance, and still be a very wide tire.

You have to pick a manufacturer that makes both tire sizes for the front and back.

On My Q45, I am running Nitto NT555 245/45/18 on the front and 285/40/18 on the rear. This is probably the perfect sizes for the Vette, but would probably rub on an 18 x 9.5 wheel with a 5" backspacing.

I typically spend a few hours on Tire Rack determining the right size and then find a manufacturer that makes the sizes in the style I like,
