I bought a partial engine. Short block + oil pan and pump +cam + gears+ lifters installed. Reused my old heads and intake and blower. When speccing it out I was more focused on gettting the internals right (o-ringed low compression forged 383) then things like dipsticks.

If you get a chance, post a pic of the top of the stick in the engine bay. I'd like to see how it compares with the Lokar. If it looks good it sure seems like the way to go and save a little money.
