If you read the posts on that topic, he states twice where he got them from.

I did read them and unless you get more on your computer he says nothing about the flares only the paint!

Check out the flares offered by Eckler's or Mid America/ACI. There are basically two styles that are typically used. The Eckler's flares are partial replacement panels (fenders and quarters with flares molded in)and feature somewhat squared off ends; these are commonly called "mudflap" flares because their ends resemble mudflaps.

The flares offered by Mid America I believe are produced by a company called ACI. These are not replacement panels, you mold the flares onto your fenders and quarters. The ACI style flares are replicas of the original factory flares included with L88's back in the day. The rear L88's are much wider than the Eckler's/mudflap style flares, and hence take wider wheels/less backspace to fill out the flare and make it look good. I have the L88 flares on my car.

I think this shot shows the width of the L88 flares fairly well. My wheels are 11" wide and in this shot the rears have just under four inches of backspacing.

ACI is the one that resembles the real L-88 flares. These are the real L-88 over the counter flares once offered by GM. These were present on my car when I purchased the car several years ago. I hope these pictures help.

Stan, are you still making flares? Yours are the way to go if you want proper fitment of the L88 flares.

He also has test fitted a set of Road-Race Vette's hand made L-88 flares. He couldn't believe how well they fit the body compared to the ones ACI made. The best ones on the market by far are the one's made by froum member Road-Race Vette. They are a work of art and they look awesome. Get your flares from Stan (Road-Race Vette) - they are the best out there bar none.
If Stan is still making them, I would be interest in getting some from him this winter.

Hi guys, As we are very busy at the shop building cars, we havent had a chance to make flares lately. For you that dont know what they look like , check out this thread, and the pics of them on a car(the ones on the car have been modified with extra material on the back per customer request)

I hope to make some more soon, but our restoration customers come first.
I will keep you posted, and you can PM me your info so I have it on hand.
Thanks

Default Ecklers L 88 flares

These are the Eckler's replacement panels, they do have the mud flap look at the bottom.

I see the black Vette has what looks like it has the flare and a Pace car spoiler blended together. And the Ecklers flares might be able to do a similar thing. The question I have is this which one is better for aerodynamics? The Ecklers look like they would cover the tires better. Hmmmm somebody do some engineering calculations. Seriously though I wonder.

The flares that you have on this car are exactly what I am looking for. I don't want a flare that is so wide, I just want to accent the fenders a bit and these do it perfect. I am interested in a set of these, when are you going to be making some?

thanks
