Default POR 15 Orange Engine Paint

Is POR 15 Orange Engine Paint the 'correct' color for my '70 sb engine? I realize that it is not what the factory used, but is it (or close to) the correct color? How is it applied ... brush ... spray ... both?

What are other good brand name choices? ... for a brush applied application (I'm not planning on pulling my engine anytime soon ... I hope).

Thanks for your input.

I used it on mine and was pleased with the results. In my case I brushed the block and sprayed the oil pan, timing chain cover and valve covers.

I seemed to get beter coverage with the spray gun then with the brush.

If you buy more then one can, make sure you colour check each can before you start painting. I found the colour changes slightly from can to can.

Hummm.... I didn't even know you could by POR 15 in colors? I thought it was all Black or Silver? Little did I know :o

On my last resto project (14 years ago, still have it), I used the black on a frame and found I liked it. Are the colors as good?

Also, where is a good place to buy it in colors?

Thanks,
Dale

Seems the quanta orange is the what I hear at the NCRS as closest. http://www.quantaproducts.com/produc...t_on=&sort_by=

But that engine with the POR looks awfully good too

I just recently learned about the POR colored paints by reading another thread here on the Forum. I would also like to know a good source to buy it.

I too am interested in seeing brush-on results. In my restoration i am not going to pull the motor but would like to put a fresh coat of POR engine paint. Any one have experience or stories of brushing their block?

Here's three coats applied with a brush. If I were to do it again, I would use a spray gun.

i used the por15 red engine paint on my gastank n front end suspension parts. just love this paint, just brush it on n it leaves no brush strokes n when dried it looks like it's been powdercoated. the engine paint is a topcoat unlike por15's black n silver rust paint. i just buy my POR products online from por15 themselves.

A question for anyone else that bought POR15 ... where did you buy it?

(I have talked to a POR15 sales rep. and determined that I can buy it from them directly, but I would prefer to buy it locally if it's available).
