I know I can’t have been the only one trying to find an accumulator cover for the Hydroboost. With all of polished aluminum engine compartments I see, a gold cylinder just doesn’t go well. I searched high and low, but couldn’t find one in the after market. Everyone I called said they had been discontinued. So I had a friend give me some help and we made one. It turned out nice and I thought I would post the dimensions incase someone else hated the gold cylinder as much as I did. We started out with a 2.25” diameter solid aluminum rod, bored out the center on a lathe, cut it to length, shaped, polished and installed a setscrew to hold it on. It ended up looking like an aluminum cup you could drink out of. I posted a pick of the final dimensions we ended up with. It fit perfect, not too tight not too loose. I hope this will help someone in the future.
Appreciate the posting of the dimensions for recreating one too. I may want to look back into this after I assemble the system into my car. Did you add one set screw or 2 in your design? What dia screw did you choose?

Thanks again.
I just used one set screw about 1” from the end….I think it was a 8/32. The fit is very close so I didn’t see a need for a second screw.

Believe me I thought about that. What I was told is you can’t remove the accumulator without destroying the hydroboost. I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but I wasn’t willing to chance it. Polishing it in place just didn’t look possible….well I guess it’s possible but not to the standard I would have liked to have seen.
I’ve had a few people PM me about this so I will just post it publicly. We did this at my buddy’s work and his boss didn’t care for him helping me out, but he doesn’t want to push the issue by trying to do several homework projects. I would think this would be an easy job for any machine shop…we did it all in less than an hour….well minus the polishing.
I was able to buy one from Hydratech Braking ages ago. I pc'd it the same colour as my mc...
Did you have trouble with break fluid trashing the powder coat on your MC? I powder coated my old MC, single stage chrome and the second break fluid hit it, it started eating it away. I am hoping it’s only with the chrome. I am helping a buddy restore his vette and we are thinking about PC his MC, but I am leery since my past experience.

Also, note the Stainless Steel Brake Corporation billet MC. It's a little pricey at $460, but gets ride of that butt ugly heavy cast iron stock MC .

Take a closer look at the pictures above and you will see that’s what is on my car now. I found this one at a swap meet for a $100 bucks. I plan on going with the Wilwood master cylinder and calipers when the money tree permits. But yes I do agree the original had to go….Now if it looked like Saudi vettes that might be a different story.

No, I haven't had any trouble with the brake fluid trashing the pc. I've had it dribble on the calipers too without any problems. I think the chrome stuff must be a bit delicate to stuff like that...

Thanks for the info…I thought it had to be a problem with the chrome because no one was griping about the calipers they had powder coated. I will proceed forward with helping my buddy.

I dunno if it's made any difference, but I baked the calipers and mc for ages too. They took a LONG time to come to temperature anyway but instead of the 10 minutes cure time, I left them in there for at least twice that...
