Default Shaved door handles?

Should I or not?? Anyone got a pic of a chrome bumper C3 Convertible with them shaved? Or a coupe.
Onaquest????
Not many changes to the body except a filled in rear valance. How do they look with sidepipes??
I was thinking I like the crome on a dark, almost black, car but since they are on a horizontal surface you can't see much of them anyway and I like the idea of the doors popping open!

Default my 2 cents

the design of the door handle on my 68 is like it was shaved from the factory.

After a lot of thought, I felt the cost benefit was not there to do all that work. The stock arrangement is cooler than shaved, so why bother?

I recall seeing a shaved vette door, and they made no dramatic visual impact at all.

Check out forum member "onaqwst"s car. He has shaved door handles. I'm sure he would answer any questions as he is a stand up kind of guy.(or that's my opinion from reading his posts)

the actual body work is easy... its the the mechanism thats a bit tricky

i tried to use 80 pound selinoids to pull the latch but couldnt get a decent angle to get all the force. maybe rig up a pully wheel in there and you might be fine.

the current vette latches take alot of force to open the door. you might be able to swap out a similiar latch with a less forcful spring inside. i would also check in any (hotrodders) websites to see if they have some tricks....

since i never really took my vette out, i would just leave the windows down and jump into the car since i'm tall anyways...

it seems to me shaved door handles were used to make normal cars,
with protruding handles flush, .... the Vettes do Not protude out !
I would use that money and work in a different area on the car.

it all depends on the concept of the car really..

since i was molding/shaving the entire body, i practically did everything....

if your planning a nice custom paint job then shave them.....

but considering that the PO vette is a chrome bumper, then i would just buy new handles (if they are pitted) and leave them. they will match with the bumpers only if you have a basic 1-2 color paint job...

Can you post a picture? I'm completely lost on what "shaved door handles" are.

Exactly! I couldn't agree more. Sly spend the money elsewhere.
