10 grand, into a car I payed 10 grand for , four months ago.
Plus extensive amounts of time tracing electrical circuits
But if I were to take 20 G's out and look for a used car in that price range I guaranty I would not find a car I like as much as this one.
It is definatly a great smile making machine.

What part of Florida does G-ma live in? I just helped a buyer in Belgium
buy an 81 Corovette that was owned by a guy in Fort Pierce.
He does restomods on 68 style Camaros and installs LS2s in them for pro athletes and celebrities. He knows how to set up the fly by wire throttle and the computer for the LS2 conversion and what is required as far as motor mounts, accessories and proper cooling.
He also has experience with changing out the tranny and rear end as he did on his 81. I flew down there and inspected his 81 and it was sweet.
He has "been there and done that and wears the T shirt". If you could get the car flat-bedded over to his shop then he could tell you exactly what to do. I trust him as I have seen his work. It might cost you a few bux but might be the best money you ever spent as he can give you a step-by-step plan.
I will also be down to visit him the first week in April as we have something cooking.
I would consider fuel injection. What would an example of what I would use be as far as an engine and trans?
There are many threads on LS conversions and a sticky at the top on them as well. You can get an LS engine with 400 hp pretty easily. If you can find an Fbody or GTO setup you would already have a mating transmission. If you use a Corvette LS, you would have to find a transmission, but 2wd truck/Suburban/Tahoe would bolt on. In fact, a 5.3 LS from an '00 up truck/Suburban/Tahoe will be quite a lot of motor (300 hp+ with decent exhaust) and can be had cheap. Look on www.car-part.com. For example, an '01 5.3 (or a 6.0) from a truck with less than 50k miles can be bought from several places in Tennessee for under $1000. A 2wd 4L60E transmission to go with it less than $500. I'm sure if you look around you could work a package deal with engine, trans, wiring, computer and accessories for under $2000. For sure there is more work than just plopping it in, but that is a good starting place. Just some thoughts.
