Default 76 help

I've read that there were 2 different rear bumper emblems for the '76. From what I can tell they were both Corvette written as one word but were different sizes 6" and 8"... but, was the first design indented / recessed into the bumper instead of sitting on top? Seems like I recently saw a '76 that the shorter emblem was indented. Can anyone tell me if I am correct ?

My '76 has the eight inch script that is not indented.

That is correct! The early '76 Corvettes had the smaller script and then they switched to the longer one midway through the production run. I'm not sure at what point in the VIN's that they switched however.
