Hi guys. I always wanted a 81 or 82. They have all the right spoiler and air dams as god intended. It has lots of work to be done, but hey.... I've got you guys now. So with that, I'll hit the sack and think of all the questions i need to ask. thanks..........Bryan.
Hey Welcome!!!
I just bought an 81 too....
I can't wait to cruise around in mine, just have to wait for winter here to melt away.
That could take forever in Edmonton.
It's been an early winter this year, not much time at the end of the season for another few drives. Let's see some pictures to keep us going until the thaw.
Congratulations. I bought an '82 about 9 mo. ago and like it a lot too. My favorite would admittedly be the '68 - 72s (gotta love that chrome styling) but was not ready to unload that much mula on another car that would stay in the garage the majority of the time (already have one of those and my wife isn't ready for another just yet). I wanted a car that I didn't have to worry about too much and could drive to work, leave in parking lots, let the wife drive it, etc. w/o any worry and have fun making it faster, stronger and better in phases over the next 5 years. I originally was looking at a '79 as my favorite but then after looking at hundreds of pictures started to re-evaluate that the 80-82 design was superior to the designs between 74 - 79. This goes against my nature cause with most other cars I tend to like them more as they go back in time but the 80-82 vettes are definitely the exception. They just look so complete in the front and back and I liked how it didn't have those buckteeth lookin "bumperetts" I think they call them. I also preferred the look of the sloped back glass and the additional storage space it allows for. GM also took a lot of weight off the front ends in those years and the new front end design also provided for much better aerodynamics and air flow to cool the radiator. You'll notice that some people aren't big fans of the 80-82 vettes and attempt to trat them like red-headed step children and claim they are not worth as much as the 75 - 79s but I haven't seen that to be the case at all. They are all failry inexpensive and depending on condition and modifications range from $4k - $16k no matter what year between '75 - 82. Enjoy those luscious curves.
I just bought an 81 a few months ago so my 98 would have some company. i hope it will be in the shop for paint soon. chabged the cam and added the Hooker header side exhaust. next is a home powder coat kit.
thanks for the welcome. I pulled the seats for new carpet. and found that the drivers side unbolts from under the car. and the passenger side from the top. gm was thinking. thanks again........bryan. pics coming.
