Frame is different, front and back at the bumper mounts at the end of the rails. There is a site detailing all the 63-82 frame changes; I'll see if I can dig it up.
Also, I think the later frames all had removeable transmission crossmembers. Someone with a definitive answer I'm sure can chime in.
I would guess the birdcages are the same, unless there was some kind of variation over the years where the seatbelts mounted.

Check to see if the A.O. Smith factory stenciled part number and date are still legible. 81 shown.
Earlier cars had the stencil on the passenger's side rail.
no luck on any stencil still being there, the 4-speed frame was sand blasted and painted by the shop the previous owner had working on it. I have noticed a couple bolt holes that are missing or dont line up with the parts on the body that bolt to it.
