I am thinking about putting a set of Hankook tires on a '70 454/390 that I am currently restoring. The restoration is not going to be a complete factory original or restomod, but something in between. I really like some 17" wheels that I saw at a recent swap meet and the dealer said he knew people who put some Hankook tires on them and he had heard good things about them. Has anyone used these tires on a C3? Any info would be appreciated.
I think those are the same wheels I saw a picture of before. Are you still running those with the cross flags? If so, where did you find the wheels? I was also considering the same tire size (235/55/R17) and was wondering if you had any issues with them at all.

I got the wheels on eBay, they came with the cross flag emblems. I'm not sure you can get them like that anymore....all the wheels I see like these on eBay lately have something different on them. Maybe GM license issues.
I don't remember exactly who I got them from on eBay, but I think it was OE wheel out of Florida.
Tires are 235/55 R17 .....they are the same overall diameter as what my stock 82 15" tires would have been.
How does the width compare to the stock/optional 60 series?
I too am research new wheels & tires to replace the stock 15s with 17s. Local wheel & tire store offered up Hankooks at ~$150/tire. They compared them to/or said they were made by Michelin.
The tire diameter and size is VERY close to the stock 15" tire for my car. It shouldn't throw your speedo off and will handle 10X's better.
You can get better deals than $150 a tire.....I paid right at $79-89 a tire online....I can't remember who though. I think it was tire rack.
BTW, I was browsing eBay and found the exact wheels I have and the tires that a seller is offering as a combo package.
Here's the item number - 360129377670
Specs on the tires:
4) 235/55HR17 (Front & Rear)
Overall Diameter: 27.2"
Sidewall Height: 5.08"
Section Width: 9.6"
Load Index: 99H (1709 Lbs)
UTQG 340
Traction A
Temperature A
Speed Rate H (130 mph)
Only thing is, the wheels are are a 4.5" BS so I relocated my parking brake bracket to the top of the trailing arm, it was close to the wheel when it was on the side and I didn't want to take any chances.
