FYI I just installed the latch fuel cap by MUSTALGIA...it is the closest thing to "plug and play" installation...10 minutes top being very careful and deliberate. And it looks HOT being polished aluminum...gives my '71 vert that roadster look. My only concern is how to secure it from being ripped off since it is screwed on to the stock location. Hex screws may be a good idea...my baby is locked up in the garage but I'll be leery about leaving it out of sight. Anyway I give this product a 4-1/2 star for looks and ease of installation...worth the $284 bucks including shipping to Hawaii.
Yeah isn't it such a great fit and look? I was super impressed and I'm glad to see you picked one up.
The thief would have to have a stubby screw driver or he'd never get it out. That might buy you a little piece of mind.
You can also Google 'Security Screw' and you'll get lists of vendors that sell screws with odd shape screw heads and security bits to install and remove them. Very big in car audio so gear can't be easily removed from cars and trucks.
Hey, take and post some pics of the lid on your car, we'd love to see them.
I'm not too worried about someone stealing mine. My car never leaves my sight! Maybe at car shows, but if you can't trust your peers at car shows than there's a problem!

My peers at the car shows are not who I am worried about...I like driving my roadster to restaurants and scenic locations...and this gas cap is so awesome...it would be a bitch to lose it in a flash!!!
Does an aftermarket lockable gas cap fit inside of there?
Sean
The opening on the filler cap is 3-3/4". I believe the 74's on up have a smaller cap so you should be good to go. I have a 68 with a locking tank cap that's 3-5/8" in diameter and it fits through easily.
