DO NOT drive that car outta the driveway until you find out EVERYTHING about that entire rear suspension and bearings, brakes.....i'ts a bit of doing, being independent rear.....
I know the rear suspension is tired. And i believe the rear end needs to be rebuilt or replaced. But i know that the front left caliper is leaking. as soon as i saw this, all the problems started coming into play.
Obviously, calipers are the 1st thing to go....just need to know if Lonestar is good i guess.
You need to get the O ring type seals on the pistons in the calipers. If you want to do it once and forget it you need to do it right. Sooner or later you get what you pay for. Check out the O ring design calipers from Vette Brakes and Products. As far as the rear end. That noise could be U joints and or the clutches in the rear end. I would change the gear oil in the rearend and add one and a half bottle of additive for the clutches. Your local GM parts knows all about this stuff.
Good Luck
I bought a single caliper for my 70 a few years back. I ordered it from a major supplier but it came in a Lone Star box. It was a good quality caliper that I have been pleased with.
Recently I ordered 4 calipers for my 65 from VBP. The calipers were great and the core refund fast. I only wish that I got them powder coated.
You might want to try Muskegon Brake before you buy anything.I've used there cal. and rotors and brake kits on a few vettes and there stuff is good at a pretty good price.

You guys know more about this than i do.
Derek,
I put Lonestar Calipers on my 68 4 years ago and they have worked flawlessly. My car sits a lot which kills those things. Good luck with your brake problems. You say your rear end pops going around corners; have you changed your fluid in the rear end and added the proper additive for the posi unit? You may find that's causing the popping as well.
Thanks for the replies. I will do some research on wilwood and their 'bolt-on' applications. I think im going big on this one.
Braking is a big issue....
The rear-end, i havent serviced it in 10k. I wouldn't think it has any problems.....but all i used was GL-5. I didnt put any additives in there. That is what the chevy parts guy told me here in kansas city.
I put a set front and back of 'O' ring calipers from VB&P and NEVER had a single problem from then on. Brakes worked great year after year. Just noticed their having a 20% off sale till the end of Feb.
Once you remove your rear wheels, you will have to inspect to see if the original rivets have been removed or not. They did come from the factory riveted as the fronts did. good luck.

Hopefully im not in a pickle.
If you have an open diff you are fine . If you have a posi that is probably your noise. I used two bottles of the gm posi additive.
