Default Tranny Cooling Lines

I have a set of lines from Ecklers with part # 37630 for my 75, 350 auto. They do not seem to fit even near correctly. When I look on the website this is the right number. However the tag on the lines themselves says 70-74 T350 adb T400 small block. Are there more than one style for a 75? I do not have the old lines, I saved everything else but do not have these to compare to.

Has the radiator been changed? What part of these lines seems incorrect? (which end?)

'75 owners can chime in here, but didn't the L-48 cars get the TH350 while the L-82 cars got the TH400? The lines might be different.

Same here 350 l-48 with th400 trans. Are your lines you got solid the whole way? I think I remember mine being flared at the ends and rubber hoses right before the radiator. But I would doubt mine are stock

Believe I have the T-350. The tube is solid from tranny to the bulged ends for the tubing to go the the tube piece on the radiator. I can not get the piece to fit over the a-arm. If I put the bend over the a-arm the tube is too short to reach the hook up at the tranny if I attach the tube to the tranny the bend wont clear the a-arm.

Maybe you do have the wrong lines then. I'm not sure what the difference is in the lines from the 350 to the 400. Where do the trans lines come from out of your 350? I'm prett sure mine are just a few inched above the front end of the pan. And The flared end comes out just a little ways past the lower a arm. Hope this helps, call and check on those part numbers tomorrow.

The lines enter the transmission just above the modulator assembly. What I am struggling with is on Ecklers the part number I have is the only number available for a 75.

Default Trans lines

foooz,
If your car is stock, it has a TH400, as the TH350 didn't get introduced until the 1976 model. You mention trouble getting the line "over the A-arm" - I hope you mean the lower A-arm, as both lines go between the lower A-arm and the crossmember. I know it looks unsafe, but that's where they go. If you're trying to fit the lines over the UPPER A-arm, then that's where the trouble is.

Let us know.

Thanks Aussie that is exactly where the trouble was. I took many, many pictures when disassembling however computer crashed and did not have backed up on cd. Which line goes in the top hole of the tranny the one that points up near the radiator or the other one?

Default Which hole????

foooz,
Not sure on the tranny, but your AIM should show you. However, I heard that the pressure (trans outlet) line should enter at the BOTTOM of the cooler, so that any air trapped rises and goes back to the tranny, therefore keeping the cooler full of fluid.

Thanks. The AIM is not clear it actually shows the two outlets from the tranny in a different configuration than my tranny is. The good news is the lines are bent to enter the tranny appropriately. Anyone else able to help with which line goes where?

Both the 350 and 400 have the ports located the same way, but different threads for the adapter.
Return is upper.
Pressure is lower.

The return line at the tranny should be approx 1" longer, if made correctly.

At the radiator, you can't mix them up.

Back at it again and ready to kill something from the frustration of trying to install these cooling lines. I can not get the lines threaded into the transmission. Is there some special trick? Also I ordered the frame clips. There are two clips and two screws but only one of the clips has holes in it. What am I missing? Sorry for all the questions but as stated earlier my pictures were all lost. Damn computers.

Send them back to Eckler's, and call INLINE TUBE, your worries will be over. Great service, great products, everything you need.

I recommend mild steel instead of stainless, it is very hard to prevent leaks w/stainless.

The 75 came oem with a th400
Here are some pics of an original 75 setup
Not shown are the clamps mounting the lines to the nderside of the frame above the lower aframe.
2 single hole clamps face away frome each other clamping the lines, sharing 1 sheet metal screw between them.
Hopefully this will help.

Call me Bubba but I used brake line when I installed the 700r4. 5/16 IIRC. I used a couple short pieces at the tranny and coupled them to longer ones so you don't have to struggle screwing them in when the tranny is in place and there isn't any room for your damn fingers. Wasn't hard to do (with a tubing bender) and it's worked great. I don't recommend trying to flare your own ends though.

Thanks to all!!! The lines are installed. The bend out of the tranny was incorrect and forcing the lines into the oil pan.
