Im going to be installing a crate 383 in the near future. Will I be able to install it by just removing the radiator and shroud or do I have to remove the bumper and everything back to and including the radiator?
I took my shroud and radiator out. I left the radiator support in however. In is not hard of a job to do. I am glad I did it though because I found some bad hidden rust on the support.
Removing those items would make it a lot easier to do for sure, but like already stated, it can be done while still in place.
Also, I found it a lot easier for me to take the front wheels off and lower the front as low as I could until the engine was in the compartment and then I raised it back up.
Did mine with the radiator in and shroud off. No problem.
Me too.
Are you going to be inserting the engine and transmission at the same time? I almost always do (with any other kind of car), but with the 'vette I put the engine in first and then brought the (TH350) up from the bottom with a Harbor Freight transmission jack. It all went just fine.
