Default Big Brake Problems

I have recently Kind of inherited a 76. I have been having some brake problems with it and this weekend I took all of my wheels off. When driving the car drifts to the right and when you brake the steering wheel jerks to the right, along with the car. I have also noticed that the car wants to decelerate very quickly when im coasting. My back left brake is also squeaking. I have figured that my right front caliper is stuck, but when i checked all of the calipers i found that all of the brake pads are pushing on the rotor with a decent amount of pressure. The calipers were switched over many years ago to the stainless steel calipers, so they have to have silicone brake fluid. I found a receipt from when the car was worked on, and they put DOT 3 fluid in. This was about 2 years ago. Have my calipers been ruined?

Well, first of all, you have no worries as long as the wheels stay off.

Second, have someone look at them.

At least your focused on the right thing...brakes. Get those things taken care of first.

I had a similar problem on my 71 that had stainless put on 20 years ago. My Corvette shop knew what the problem was before they fixed it by putting in pistons with O rings. I don't know the specifics but he said it was typical wilth older stainless replacements. easy fix in my case. Ed

SS lined calipers do not mean silicone fluid has to be used. In fact DOT 3 is not silicone.
