any and all help is appreciated
thanks
by the way, i checked the fuse for the brake signals, fuse is fine. what else could it be? turn signals work so it cant be a wiring problem (at least not in the rear half of the car
thanks again for the help i know will [eventually] come
My advice would be to purchase the '79 assembly instruction manual (AIM) and track these down. The AIM will show a diagram of the main dash wiring harness installation and connections for options. Some of your loose ends may be for options not on your car, others are likely to be connections for items not working.
The GM Chassis and Service Manual will help if you can't find what you need in the AIM.
A turn signal switch can fail and cause the loss of brake lights with everything else working. I would check the power coming to the pedal switch first..
I have a wiring diagram in poster size laminated on the garage wall right in front of where the car parks. It was about $10 from Lectric Limited. Even if you get the answers you're looking for here, I'd still buy one for future reference. They are a great thing to have. BTW, mine is a 79, so if no one else gets you what you need, let me know an I'll check my diagram for you.
Doc Rebuild also has some excellent wiring diagrams. His have a photo of the connector built right into the diagram. Great for trouble shooting (and laminated too).
