Rochester may work on a high rise LT-1 type but the holly required the big block hood. There are tons of low rise aftermarket manifolds that should work. You may look into an aftermarket low rise air cleaner to make it work with a high rise also. Ed
This may help you decide. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...tock-hood.html Post #6.
BTW, the stock Q-jet is slightly taller than a 4250 Holley. I don't have the exact measurement handy, but I measured both and you gain some headroom with a Holley.
The real LT-1 intake will not accept a QJet. The Qjet is a spreadbore layout and the LT-1 original type intake is a square/standard bore type. The earlier ZZ crate engines used a high rise aluminum intake similiar to the LT-1 and had the square/standard bore layout which requires a Holley or a Demon carb. When it was used on ZZ crate engines it was GM part #10134342. I have one on my 70 and use the drop down style base open element air cleaner like the LT-1 used with a Holley 4777 650 double pumper and I have adequate clearance with my original hood.
