Default Head Casting Numbers

I just for the heck of it was looking up casting numbers from my 1970 350/300hp and the heads do not match 1970 Corvette head number.
What are they and what cubic inch/hp/tq year motor are they from?

I don't think so but I've been wrong before.

I do know if they only came on the 307 or 327 then no there would be no way they were installed on a 70 vette from the factory.

Are you sure the number is 3927188. Could they be 3927186? Take a good look. The six looks allot like an eight.

Thank you, you're right I took another look and if you did not point that out I would have thought that the last number was an 8 not a 6.
Good call

Jan 16, 1969 Casting date 186 heads NCRS CORRECT! if your Vette's build date is later than January. Good heads but don't have hardened exhaust seats for unleaded gasoline, run a TEL additive from Jack Podell or other source. Same heads as 350HP and 370HP high performance 350's without bigger valves, if you seats are bad they can be opened up to 2.02/1.60 valve sizes but, make sure the machinist opens up the combustion chamber wall for larger intake valve or it won't flow and better that the smaller valve sizes. Find a shop with a Sunnen VGS type of cylinder head machine for re-building them whan you get around to it.

These are on my 65 not on OP 70. Not real correct! The car has an over the counter, CE, 350/350 short block from 69 installed by previous owner. The heads were purchased and installed at the same time. I thought all 186s were the big valves? 69 has press in studs and 70 has screw in? Same used on Z28 and LT1?

I also believe the 041 head was used on lt1 and 302 z28's
492 straight plugs had the big valves 292 and 492 angle plugs and were 2.02 &1.60 but were over the counter never on a production car

p.s if you need a set of 041 i may have a set 1.94 1.5 with hard seats but i am not sure on the year

thanks donnie
