Default Window/Weatherstripping seal

I just installed new weatherstripping on the driver side of my 80' and when it came time to close the door after the install I noticed that there is a gap at the top front of the window where the t-top should seal with the window. The rear of the window seams to set just about right in the weatherstripping. I was wondering if I could adjust the window and if so how hard will it be and what do I have to do? Thanks.

The assembly instruction manual (AIM) has the best procedures for adjusting door glasses. Tells you how they set them at the factory.

Can you post a picture from a little further back? I'll look at it and see if I can give you some help on this. EasyMIke is correct; the adjustments are in the AIM.

There are so many areas on the car that can be adjusted from the outer t-top weatherstrip, the roof panel inner shims, the pillar post, the door glass, window rollers, door window pad adjusters, outer felts, and the lateral door adjustment.

I don’t know if the picture is to close or not, but I don’t see any of the window blow out clips on the pillar weatherstrip retainer. One more thing I see is it appears as if the retainer is a tiny bit bent.

One common problem with the pillar weatherstrip installation is the pillar retainers. Over time if the door glass is not hitting them properly they will pull a little on the screws that hold them in place. This creates a molding that will rock and not sit flat on the windshield pillar post. You might check this too! The pillar weatherstrip retainer should be flat when fitted against the pillar with no rock motion to it.

The hardest part of this job is getting the adjustments in sync at the same time and if done properly everything will align just fine.

Thanks for the advice; unfortunately I will not be able to get a good picture for a few weeks. I am in a situation where I can only get back to the car to work every couple of weeks. I will be sure to click some pics when I get back but as for the pillar clips I just reused the original ones and they seem to have a good fit.

The only other thing that I noticed when shutting the door is that the window after installing the new stripping wants to slide in on the front pillar clip which I am not too fond of but I have not installed new felts or adjusted the window supports like I intend to do. I am fairly confident that I will be able to sort this out but any tips on this would be helpful.

Thanks for the help.

Order the AIM while you're waiting. After you get it, read through the door glass adjusting procedures to get familiar with what you'll be doing.
