Hey guys,
I have a few questions for those who know much about LED lights and for those who have installed LED bulbs as your dash lights. I am currently on the fence of swapping my incandescent bulbs out for LED's for my speedo, tach, and center gauge cluster. I am going to take out my lower dash on the left side, to swap out my pedal assembly(converting to a 6 sp). I figure while I am at, I might as well (who hasn't heard that phrase before?) replace the bulbs with LEDs. So let me start off by firing off questions...
1. I've heard that LED's actually produce less light than an incandescent, and they only produce a bright beam of light similar to that of a laser . Therefore, it takes mulitple LED's faced in the right/correct direction to produce more light than an incandescent bulb. So, Would the LED bulbs that have 5 LEDs, 1 facing up and 4 facing the outside, be the best to use for the dash?
2. If no to question 1, what would be the best LED bulb?
3. To those that have converted to LEDs, did you notice any more brightness? If, not what kind of LED did you use?
4. Lastly, is it worth the hassle/extra money? And, would you do it again?
If you guys have anymore advice or info, it would much be appreciated!
Light Emiting Diodes (Led) do infact need more filaments to produce similar incandescent light. Leds are however whiter and produce a more direct light beam. In a dash of a C-3 It would improve the backlight look. Pm if you want some light photometrics of leds. They will be out of the auto industry although.
