Help needed, I shimmed my spindle end play @ .004-.005 when cold. I rotated the spindle @ 850 RPM for 15 mins, the end play is .002-.003, I understand that everthing expands with heat. I notice that with the yoke in place, rotating the spindle there is a vibration. When I replace the yoke with a sleeve and set torque @ 100#and spin it at 850 RPM the vibration is gone. Therefore the yoke must be out of balance. My question is,.....Is it possible to balance the yoke? and if how?

i've been wondering about that. What happens to setups with 0.001 endplay?
If I set my brgs @ .001-.002 I'd be afraid they too hot. Brgs & high heat don't mix well. If I recall correctly from brg classes. They will run approx 10 to 30 degrees above ambient temp.

Sounds like you went to Our Lady of Generalised Assumptions Academy, completley disconnected from the real world campus. I guess your major was second guessing GM engineering and ignoring 45 years of field experience?
The engines that I have helped develop run with bearing temperatues that are 400-500 degrees above ambient and rarely have more than .001" cold clearance. And they do this year after year with very few issues. Look, one just flew by outside the window

In my previous remark, I failed to point out that mine are setup at 0.001". This is the maximum recommended end play within the [C3] Corvette Chassis section of the Chevy Power book for IMSA GT or Trans Am road race preparation. Interesting how this is tighter than production tolerance, which I believe is 0.001-0.008".
If there were issues related with running these close tolerances, you better believe they'd show up at the track long before during general use on the street. I was JK before, but sometime in the future when I'm up for some pointless work just for kicks and grins I may well check hot vs. cold out of curiosity. Thing is, I wouldn't be surprised if clearance increases with heat expansion of all relative components.
Bottom line, IMCO there are better things about which to worry.
