well i got rid of the hooker sidepipes and decided to go with a 2 1/2" exhaust under the car. i had the front 2 1/2" Y pipe custom made to bolt up to my Mcjacks ram horn headers and it goes into a 2.5" cat and then goes into the rear 2.5" Y pipe and then out two flowmaster mufflers. well the side pipes that i had were loud even with the muffler inserts in them but with the collector being so far from the heads my Pro-Flo wasnt getting good reading at the O2 sensor so i ditched the sidepipes and went with this. i was wanting something a little quieter than the side pipes and i figured that the catalytic converter and the mufflers would help out. Boy was i wrong ive run flowmasters before and they were very loud and deep but nothing compares to what this sounds like. i must say that it does run a lot smoother and the light on the EFI box stays green instead of flashing green and yellow like it did with the hooker sidepipes. i guess i wont be starting this thing between 6pm and 10am
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
I had Flowmaster's on my 406ci for about a week. Cars were stopping about 5 car lengths behind me at lights, and that's with 2 lanes too
Gets old real fast, ditched them for MagnaFlows, now that I have the 427ci they were too loud too so I put in Car Chemistry baffles and now all is well
well i had the car in the garage when i started it up so it made it seem louder than i was expecting. after getting it out and into the drive way it didnt seem as loud. it is actually where i want it to be. my wife loves the sound of it also so that is a plus in my book
when i changed my exhaust to flows, my face looked like this -> for a whole week.. i set car alarms off for fun around my block when i got bored.... this was a when i was 16 (2004) so.. yeah..

I have Borla mufflers that were a bit too loud for my taste, so I installed Car Chemistry baffles just behind the headers and they eliminated just enough noise and a nasty resonance . Its got a nice rumble now, but nothing annoying.

Mcjacks headers and 3 chamber flowmasters did it for me. Not overly loud, but lots of power.
Yes, Flowmaster 40s and 44 are loud but the Delta 50s are nice
inside the car and outside. Flowmasters are multi-chambered mufflers using no padding to absorb sound, just some black magic sound wave reversion Poindexter propellor-head science. Magnaflows are a good choice.
Not unlike my exhaust system, which I too had made after having sidepipes for awhile...only difference is that my 2 1/2" head pipes connect to full length headers, they 'Y' into a 3" pipe and 3" catalytic convertor, then it 'Y' back into dual 2 1/2" and out through Dynomax super turbos...
Its nice and mellow at cruise but sounds nice going up through the gears.
