Anyone ever put a 73 up hood on an early car to do away with the wiper door.???. Does it fit without the rest of the front end?? Someone asked that on another forum and I never thought about it..
The tops of the fenders at the base of the windshield on the 68-72 models are different than the later cars. Throw on a '73 and later hood and you will have to build up the fenders to meet the hood. If you want to get rid of the wiper door, you're better off with an aftermarket hood for this purpose.

I was kind of thinking this would be the case.....
Here's my '70 with the long L88 hood.. installed by previous owner. there are different opinions as to how good it looks all the way up to the windshield.. it covers the hole where all that mechanism for the wiper door was pretty well..
Thought about taking it back to stock, but all the mechanism is gone and it will cost me thousands to get it back.. so I will keep it this way...
Joewill and Vettesplus;
I think both of your cars look great.
And joe your right, I've already spent over a thousnd
on fixing the stuff and replacing missing stuff that was
missing when I got the car.
And the thing works real slow, I'm tired of messing with it.
the wife keeps burning up wiper motors because of that
door that I already spent over a thousand in shops trying to fix.
And the head lights are getting electric motor's too.
Because of the motor being cammed it does not pull enough vacuum.
I didn't cam it, it was already done when I got it.
Thanks Guys, Kurt
Markdtn; If you asking me Mark, every thing is there.
It's not a case of what's left, it a a case of spending
gobs of money and it is still not working like it should.
A bracket that was missing had to be fabricated for
the vacuum diaphragm for the door itself. Kurt
Vettesplus; Are those stock seats in your car.
If not where did you find them.
Also would you please send the
particulars on your hood, what's
the height on it.
Thanks Kurt
