73 soft top installation question

73 soft top installation question
I am installing the soft top frame on my 73. I have two questions.
1.) There seems to be approx 1/2" gap in the middle of the header bow between the winshield frame and bow. Is that normal?
2). The top seems to be approx 1/2" closer to the left side. What I mean is, if I measure the cleareance between the door post and the top iron that bolts to the door post, one side is 1/2" closer that the other side. you can not shim this because the back side of the bracket is ruffed up the give a good bind. Dose this mean I should bend this bracket some?
