Hey Guys,
My search results failed to find all 3 different codes I see on this tag.
I can decipher the "972" paint code but I am challenged to decode the "Trim 417"?
The interior color appears to be dark saddle with the classic white exterior. I've also read where Lt saddle was available but I'm not so sure my ride has that, for '72.
I also wonder if the "C13" to the right of "Chevrolet" is the build date: Oct.13, 1971? I thought the car was a September car due to late september build dates on engine, trans, and the VIN at 4724. Now I believe that I was incorrect making that assumption (there's that word). Thoughts?
Here's a pic of the VIN:
Thanks for any help you can provide.

trim code 417 = saddle/vinyl interior
paint code 972= classic white
build date C13 = October 13, 1971
the last vehicle built in Sept was 503697, the last vehicle built in Oct. was 506050. remember the actual build date could be one or two days after the date stamped on the trim tag.
Hope this helped
...the last vehicle built in Sept was 503697, the last vehicle built in Oct. was 506050....
#4724 fits right in there. Everything on your car was manufactured, shipped to St. Louis, and stockpiled before your car was assembled. That includes the engine. September casting and engine assembly dates would be correct for an October built car.

Yes, this helps a lot. Thanks to Roy and Easy Mike. It was the trim code that had me stumped and I guess-timated the 1-alpha, 2-numeric code was the build date. I always wondered how some of the guys knew when to celebrate their cars birthday?!
I knew I could count on you guys to set me straight. Your time is appreciated.

hi 71coupe454,
last vette produced in Nov. of 1970 was 102675
Last vette produced in Dec.of 1970 was 105269
your trim tag should have the letter E (Dec.)with a day after it that denotes the accepted "build date" of your car.
